Ever since the conclusion found in Final Fantasy 7, Cloud has been depressed. The world is trying to recover from the massive destruction it has suffered, but a new threat more potent than the last puts the future of the entire world in jeopardy.
A strange illness known as Geo-Stigma has been ravaging the planet. Some explain the sickness as the Life Stream’s way of striking back against the humans who tried to use the stream as an energy source. Those who are infected with the Stigma wear red bands around their arms to signify their disease. Some, however, view the Geo-Stigma as a blessing, not a curse.
Kadaj and his group are seeking after “Mother,” and they believe that the Stigma is the key to restoring her to them. It is up to Cloud and the others to prevent the massive destruction that will be brought on if Mother is ever allowed to exist again. But what significance does the mysterious Jenova have to Kadaj and the others? And has Sephiroth truly disappeared, never to resurface again? Only if Cloud conquers his own heart can he rout the impending evil that attacks the world from all sides and honor the memory of a friend left behind.
