At long last, Simba – future king of Pride Rock – has been born. With the careful guidance of his courageous father, Mufasa, Simba quickly learns that there’s more to being a king than just getting your way all the time. Mufasa tells Simba about the circle of life – the process of death and birth. He warns Simba that the king must always respect this natural balance, or dire consequences will result. But during a stampede of rampaging wildebeest, Simba must learn for himself that the circle of life both begins…and ends.
Mufasa’s brother Scar finds Simba alone in the trampled valley and confirms the sad truth. Simba’s father is dead. Scar explains that, considering the circumstances, if Simba had never been alive none of this would have happened. He tells Simba to run away and never return. Young Simba, ever so trusting of his wicked uncle, obeys and disappears into the desert. In the meantime, Scar has gained his true objective – with Mufasa dead and Simba soon to be killed by the arid desert, Scar is finally the successor to the throne. Just as planned.
Simba, the only true king, is lost and alone. Can he survive the desert so far from home? And will he ever return to his true destiny? Scar, who believes the circle of life to be a worthless concept, has allowed the dreaded enemy into Pride Rock willingly. Without Simba, the lion kingdom will fall. Forever.
